PVC is one of the most widely used cable polymers for its excellent insulation and sheathing qualities for cables up to the 5 kV high-voltage range. The PVC employed must possess specific characteristics to match the respective application, which can range from earthing, telecommunications, installation and heating lines, to cable for the electronics and automotive industries.
The stabiliser system has a significant influence on the performance and service life of PVC cables. The basis for the evaluation of stabiliser system performance is provided by current national and international standards, e.g. DIN VDE 0207 and BS 6746.
