Authorisation

Which substances are subject to authorisation?

An authorisation process is planned only for substances of high concern, which exhibit the following risks:

-        CMR (carcinogenic/mutagenic/reprotoxic) Category 1 and 2

-        PBT (persistant bioaccumulative toxic)

-        vPvB (very persistant very bioaccumulative)

Potential candidates for an authorisation process will be published on The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website.  A certain number of these substances will be transferred to annex XIV and get a “sunset date”. Then the application for authorisation can be made. For detailed information see → articles 55 to 66!

In the current Chemson Group product portfolio, lead stabilisers and lead oxides are potential candidates for an authorisation due to their classification as “Reprotoxic”.

At the moment no information can be given about the time scale for this authorisation process. The registration deadline for these lead compounds is 1 December 2010.

Juni 2009

ECHA published a first list of substances to be included in annex XIV.
Substances of interest for plastics industry are phthalates (e.g. DEHP).
Chemson Group does not use any of the substances included in their products!
